If you are looking for a smile makeover that will light up a room then porcelain veneers may be for you. Veneers can transform even the most severe dental issues such as chips, dark stains and large gaps into a beautiful, natural smile. Even tetracycline stains, which go deep into the tooth structure, can be transformed with porcelain veneers into beautiful, straight, white teeth.
Porcelain veneers are thin wafers about the thickness of a fingernail that are bonded to the front of your natural teeth. They create a beautiful result and mimic your natural tooth structure better than any other material. Porcelain resists stains better than tooth enamel and is durable enough to last for ten to twenty years when done correctly.
Porcelain veneers are used to correct many cosmetic issues quickly and comfortably. They can be used to close gaps between teeth or even lengthen teeth. They have also been called “instant orthodontics” because you can have a beautiful smile in two appointments instead of years as with traditional braces.
Smiling is a reflection of your personality. When you meet someone new, you often first notice their face and smile. First impressions are important and porcelain veneers can give you a beautiful smile to fit your style and personality. In addition to having an artistic approach, to give you the smile that you want, a cosmetic dentist needs to have advanced training that is specific to smile design. An artistic cosmetic dentist, such as Dr. Sirin, can do just that.
Cosmetic dentistry is a specialized field, and Dr. Sirin feels that it requires extensive postgraduate education beyond dental school. He has taken countless hours of advanced education from some of the leaders in the field of cosmetic dentistry.
If you want a new smile, Dr. Sirin will begin with a thorough examination. He will examine and x-ray your teeth to make certain porcelain veneers are right for you. Once that is determined, it’s important that your new smile be designed according to your unique personality and individual preferences. He will listen closely to understand what you want to see when you look in the mirror. What color and shape do you want your smile to be? Should it convey warmth, confidence, or style? These details will help make your personalized smile that much more natural and appealing. You are encouraged to bring in a photograph of a smile that you like. It could be of a friend, celebrity or entertainer. Dr. Sirin will take all of this information into account when designing your new smile.
Dr. Sirin will then create a model or wax-up of your veneers. The wax-up is used to create a set of temporary veneers you can try on and wear. This “testing” process enables you to try out your new smile and make sure it looks and feels perfect before the permanent veneers are bonded to your teeth. In the try on phase, you can inform Dr. Sirin about what you love or perhaps want to change. If there are any concerns, Dr. Sirin will have the temporary veneers modified.
If there is any preparation required for your case, that will be done. Preparation involves shaving the teeth very slightly, removing maybe two-one-hundredths of an inch of enamel. This prepares each tooth for the porcelain veneer so when placed, it does not appear or feel bulky. Some cases may not require any preparation at all. You will then wear your temporary veneers until the permanent ones are ready. The temporary veneers will give you a chance to “test drive” your new smile to make sure you’re happy with the color and the smile design. If you feel there need to be any corrections, Dr. Sirin will make those and pass those changes on to his master ceramist who will create your permanent veneers according to the smile design of the temporary ones.
When the permanent porcelain veneers are completed, they will be tried in with a temporary paste. This gives you one final opportunity to see your new smile and make any changes. The last step is to permanently bond the porcelain veneers to your teeth. The final result will be a beautiful, natural smile.
Dr. Sirin wants every patient to be absolutely delighted with their new smile. That is why he offers a beautiful smile guarantee. If you don’t love them when they are tried in, they will go back to the ceramist until you do. The final bonding will only be done after you are thrilled with how they look. Once the veneers are permanently bonded, however, they are a part of you and no further changes can be made.
